CASA organization seeks donations to benefit :ids Booster Club h0sts
CASA Children's Center, doing
business as CASA Children's Care, is
a nonprofit organization created five
years ago to serve the dependent chil-
dren of the entire Verde Valley who
are under jurisdiction of the Superior
Court of Arizona.
Headed by all-volunteer direc-
tors, this organization assists the
Court Appointed Special Advocates
and Child Protective Services by
providing grants not covered by other
agencies for dependent children under
the court's jurisdiction.
These grants range from being able
'to participate in a school class trip,
tutoring and ability to participate
in extracurricular activities, such
as dance classes, sports, in some
instances clothing and many other
necessities.
This organization also provides
assistance to dependent children,
who are becoming adults and are
"aging out" of the system at age 18,
with funds to assist with their initial
housing.
With the recent monetary cuts to
CPS, the government agency respon-
sible for the health and well-being of
these dependent children, funds are
not available for them to participate
in many activities.
One of the activities the group
provides is an annual picnic for all
dependent children and their foster
families.
A $10 donation sponsors a depen-
dent child for this event and greatly
assists in providing a memorable day
for these children and their foster
families who give so much of their
time, effort, love and assistance
ensuring that these children thrive in
their homes.
Another activity of this organiza-
tion is the reward of Celebration
Cards from various stores throughout
the Verde Valley given for birthdays,
improvement in grades, attitude
and other acknowledgments of a
child's progress.
During the next year, directors of
theorganization and CASA volun-
teers will take part in various activi-
ties throughout the Verde Valley.
Contributions are tax-deduct-"
ible and may be given either by"
,becoming a member of CASA
Children's Care at $25 yearly or
with a donation.
Donations or memberships may be
sent to CASA Children's Center Inc.,
P.O. Box 2523, Cottonwood, AZ,
86326.

zation or volunteering, contact Karin
