Sedona turns its focus to NAYFL playoffs

After a tough non-divisional
loss to the Wranglers last week,
the Sedona

regrouped aiad stomped visiting
Dewey-Humboldt in the season
finale Saturday, Oct. 23, 43-0.
"We played well. We did what
we needed to do and can now
focus on the playoffs," Sedona
Head Coach Tony Hauserman
said.
The Scorpions had 202 total
yards of offense Saturday,
scoring six touchdowns against
Dewey-Humboldt, four of which
came in the first quarter when
Sedona took a 30-0 lead.
Leading the Scorpions in
rushing was quarterback Max
Hauserman who had only one
carry, giving his Sedona team a
6-0 lead on the first play of the
game Saturday with a 45-yard
touchdown run.
Josh Cacciatori had one carry
for 37 yards and a touchdown
and had a 53-yard kickoff return
for a touchdown.
After the first quarter, backup
quarterback Freddy Rowley went
under center and had two carries
for 17 yards and a touchdown.
Rowley completed one of two
passes in his time under center
Saturday, hooking up with wide
receiver .Bailey Ehrlich for a
37-yard touchdown strike in the
third quarter.
Defensively, the Scorpions
recorded their first shutout of the
season and were led by Andreas
Ponce who recorded five tackles
and one sack. Hauserman,
Rowley, Tyler Underwood and
Austin Samano each had a sack
as well. Cacciatori also chipped
in with a blocked punL
Sedona's win over the visiting
Mustangs wraps up the regular
season for the Scorpions, who
finish with a 6-2 overall record.
The Scorpions claim the No. 2
seed out of the Northern Arizona
Youth Football League North
Division, a position they sealed
Oct. 9 in their 19-14 victory over
the Cottonwood Packers.
The NAYFL playoffs are

Injury Report
Sedona starting quarterback
Max Hauserman reportedly
injured his knee at practice
Monday, Oct. 25, and is out for
the first round of the NAYFL
playoffs this weekend when the
Scorpions host Camp Verde,
According to a press release,
Hauserman tore his medial
collateral ligament Monday and
is scheduled for an MRI early
next week.
"He's our playmaker; he's our
starting quarterback. Right now,
no matter how good he feels, he
won't play Saturday," Sedona
Head Coach and father Tony
Hauserman said. "We spent
some time with a physician
Tuesday and they said there's a
chance he could play next week
if the MRI turns out OK."
The Scorpions have to get past
the 6-2 Cowboys first Saturday,
hut if Sedona makes it to the
NAYFL semifinals, there's a
slight chance Max Hauserman
could play.
