El Prado by the Creek will celebrate the
summer with its Outdoor Living show,
which will present art for outdoor living
spaces. The show runs Tuesday, June 1,
through Monday, June 7.
From natural stone fountains and rock
furniture to wind and kinetic sculpture,
E1 Prado's garden seeks to inspire the
creation of private outdoor sanctuaries.
"People are focusing on their home and
improving their surroundings, creating
a retreat in their own backyard," stated
Joyice Gere, president of El Prado
Galleries, in a press release. "Our artists
have created wonderful pieces to enhance
the beauty and relaxing atmosphere of a
home's outdoor space."
E1 Prado offers art pieces for various
homes and yards, whether they be desert
xeriscape, green grass, ponderosa pine or
Sedona red rocks. "We want to welcome
the summer season and help our friends
create an inviting refuge in their own
backyards," Gere stated.
According to a press release, the
gallery's artists have coupled the classical
elements of air, fire, earth and water with
human creativity and emotion to create
works of art to calm, relax and quiet the
mind. "1 could sit out here all day," a
guest to the El Prado gallery and garden
stated in the press release. "The sounds
of the fountains, the motion of the sculp-
tures, the feel of the rock furniture -- I
just don't want to leave."
Artist R.C. Albin combines rocks and
stones with his skill as a welder to create
rock furniture. Garden guests can try each
chair to find which best fits their body
type.
Lyman Whitaker engineers wind
sculptures of copper and stainless steel
that catch the wind and begin to dance.
According to the press release, Bruce
Stillman's stainless steel sculptures work
with precision balance to create their
graceful sway.
Artist Ryan Steffens combines water
and stone with sight, sound and touch to
fashion fountains that stimulate the senses.
The stones he uses include onyx, trav-
ertine, limestone, sandstone and calcite.
With the patterns, colors and textures of
the rocks, Steffens adds cascading water
to heighten the sensory experience.
The show's reception will be held
Friday, June 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. in
conjunction with First Friday: Evening at
the Galleries.
E1 Prado by the Creek is located in
Tlaquepaque Village, 336 SR 179 in
Sedona. The gallery is open daily from
l0 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 282-7390 for more
